“We hate to see the products go to Mexico, but with the Ranger and the Bronco coming to Michigan Assembly , that absolutely secures the future for our people a lot more than the Focus does,” Johnson said, emphasis ours.

Will not look anything like this old rendering.

I’m sure. Remember when everyone thought the Mustang was going to look like the concept that turned into the Fusion? As development progresses, I’m sure we’ll get a better idea of what to expect.

Ladies and gentleman, the 2017 Ford Everest Bronco:

Kinja'd!!!

It’s a Ranger underneath. Same platform, same plant, same engines, different body dropped on top. Makes 100% sense for this to be the new Bronco (or at least very close to this). Yes it has 4 doors but it’s as rugged and capable as the Ranger and it’s the best we’ll get.

If it’s available I’ll be buying one as soon as possible.

It’s going to share a chassis with the Ranger, so the Beonco will almost certainly be a rebadged Ford Everest:

I bet the Ranger will be more like the international version, like a small Ridgeline. Not sure about the Bronco — don’t think today’s market is going to line up for a 2 door CUV when it comes down to the money.

Wouldn’t surprise me. Though that’s really more of an Explorer than a Bronco. The way Ford’s been killing it with enthusiast models lately (Focus RS/ST, Fiesta ST, GT350/R, GT, Raptor), it’d be weird for them to half-ass the new Bronco by slapping badges on an Explorer-type SUV.

The international Ranger is more like the Colorado than the Ridgeline.

As far as the Bronco, it’ll be interesting to see where they go with it. A lot of people seem to be looking for a Wrangler competitor, but the two have never really been competitors in the past.

By the time the Ranger/Bronco makes it to market, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a next-gen truck that fits better in Ford’s US lineup than those two.

Well, this one has a frame. This one is off road capable. This one isn’t a grocery getter crossover like the Explorer is now.

They wimped out the Explorer and hopefully they don’t wimp out the Everest when it transitions.

By the way this is exactly what they did with the Escape. It was the Kuga over seas and they brought it over and slapped a badge on it’s ass and called it the new Escape. There’s plenty of precedence for my belief.

Sad to say this but yep, it will be a re-badged Everest/Endeavour.

Its not nearly as sexy as the renders :(

Hopefully OP is right, and we’ll have a new generation Ranger/Everest by the time the factory is up to speed. After all, Ford has admitted that the current Ranger is too similar in size to the F-150 to be sold in America.

I know the real one is going to be boring, but they could release this and it would still look modern.

I always loved that concept. How cool would that look sitting next to a GT and GT350 in a showroom?

The MkII Kuga/MkIII Escape debuted there and here at the same time. Ford didn’t bring a pre-existing model to the US to replace the MkII Escape, they designed one vehicle for sale in bother markets.

The Ranger is already five years old and based on Ford truck life cycles is due for a replacement. Using your example, what Ford is most likely to do is design a replacement for global sale and base the Bronco off the new truck.

I expect it to look like the Ranger, which I expect should look something like a cross between the current global Ranger and the F-150.

I mean, I get there was a refresh for Kuga for it’s 2nd generation but let’s not say it was a big change. For example here’s a 2009:

Kinja'd!!!

It’s possible they do a whole new one. That would be cool, they did a facelift for the Ranger/Everest in 2015 so maybe. I’m a huge fan of both of them and actually had a chance to drive a Ranger here in the US back in 2013.

One of the perks of helping with the global launch of it ;-)
